What the other states call 'probate'
Anyone who dies with property in Louisiana, whether the property is movable or immovable, needs to have a succession completed in order for his or her estate to legally pass to their heirs. The facts and circumstances surrounding each estate are unique, and therefore the type and complexity of the succession process will vary from estate to estate. Successions are necessary regardless of whether the deceased person died with or without a will.
